Adaptive Technology, computers, with the software that enables a person with a disability to perform tasks, provide an enhancement to one’s life and create independence that was not experienced before.

Those that benefit are many such as the visually impaired, the blind, and those with learning disabilities.

Screen Readers-a software application that identifies what is displayed on a computer screen. It then interprets the text and sends it to the user in a spoken voice. This can in some cases be also done in sound icons or a Braille output device.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking- is a speech recognition software package developed and sold by Nuance Communications. ...The software has three primary areas of functionality: dictation, text-to-speech and command input. Not only is the user able to dictate and have their speech transcribed as written text, or have a document synthesized as an audio stream, but they are also able to issue commands that are recognized as such by the program... www.nuance.com

Our Mission Statement:

Our mission is to provide computers and adaptive technology to all people with disabilities. This technology will enrich their lives in many ways, giving them opportunities that many of us take for granted. We offer several teaching programs and aid in job placement for those who wish to further their skills. We feel that people with disabilities need this availability to learn that is rarely found.

Bringing people with disabilities the opportunities that will enhance their lives today and for the future is why we are here.

“The United States Code is divided into titles and chapters that classify laws according to their subject matter. Titles I, II, III, and V of the original law are codified in Title 42, chapter 126, of the United States Code beginning at section 12101. Title IV of the original law is codified in Title 47, chapter 5, of the United States Code. Since this codification resulted in changes in the numbering system, the Table of Contents provides the section numbers of the ADA as originally enacted in brackets after the codified section numbers and headings.

Three versions of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended are provided below. The first is the text with the amendments incorporated. The second version shows the text with the amendments highlighted by strike through text for deletions and bold text for additions. The third version shows the same highlighted content with additional coding for people who use screen readers.”
